Paid Internship Opportunity for SDCCD Students: Accounting & Operations Clerk

R&H CPA, EA is seeking a motivated, short-term, part-time intern for an Accounting & Operations Clerk position. This role is mostly remote specifically designed for a current or former San Diego Community College District (SDCCD) accounting student looking to get their foot in the door, gain practical experience, and build a strong foundation for their resume.

Position Details

  • Anticipated Start Date: Mid-August (Exact date TBD)

  • Term: 10 hours per week for 2.5 months

  • Schedule: 2 to 3 weekdays; flexible hours (with occasional daytime business hours required)

  • Compensation: $25.00 / Hour

  • Location: Mostly remote, with occasional in-person requirements.

Key Responsibilities & Tasks

  • Client Intake: Enhance and streamline the firm's tax client intake process & forms.

  • Bookkeeping & Systems: Perform day-to-day bookkeeping, including bank reconciliations and asset depreciation schedules.

  • Software Migration: Assist in setting up and transferring financial books from GnuCash to Xero.

  • Operations & Optimization: Review current company operations to propose cost-cutting ideas.

  • Special Projects: Recreate and refresh the company website.

  • Research & Compliance: Assist with research on general tax laws and help the firm navigate the Certified Acceptance Agent (CAA) designation process.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Current or former SDCCD student majoring in Accounting (or Business with an accounting concentration), with the majority of coursework completed within the district.

  • ‍Must have completed Financial Accounting (or equivalent) with a grade of "A".

  • ‍Seeking a long-term career in the field and possesses a genuine passion for accounting.

  • ‍Little to no prior professional accounting experience (this is a true entry-level learning opportunity).

Desirable Qualifications

  • CPA candidate (or currently considering pursuing a CPA license).

  • Completion of college-level tax courses.

Pre-Employment Condition

‍ If instructed to do so following a successful interview, candidates must pass a background check prior to formal hiring. The cost of the background check will be fully reimbursed by the firm.
